Maintenance
We live onboard full time and I am an engineer. So when items break they get fixed quickly. - I have spare parts for items on the boat. Such as, starter motor, alternator, belts, etc. - Routine maintenance such as oil changes, winches, etc. are also done regularly. Log book for engine.
History
Launched - 1981; Quebec Canada. Original owner sailed across the Atlantic and Back to France several times. - Boat kept primarily in Quebec & Iles de la Madeleine (Gulf of St. Lawrence). - Was owner/operator charted in Honduras for several years. Therefore sailed up and down to Quebec/Honduras several times. - Fun story… James renamed the boat “Numada” as it means “My friend” in the native Indian language in Honduras. Our ownership; 2016/17; Iles de la Madeleine Canada to Chesapeake bay along the Canadian/ USA coast. End 2017; Join the ARC rally Carib 1500 from Chesapeake bay to BVI. 2017/2018; Sailed down the Caribbean from BVI to Grenada. 2018-2020; Liveaboard in Grenada and cruised southern Caribbean for vacations. 2020/21; Tour of the Caribbean from Grenada north and back again. We are selling her because we are moving back to Europe. We have family in Italy & the UK, plus schooling needs, which is why we are moving back to Europe. The boat is very strongly built and set-up for ocean passages and live-aboard for a family. We very much enjoy the large space and nice cabins we have. This boat is ready to move in and perfect for a cruising family who are looking to cruise in the Caribbean or around the world.
Special features
Steel schooner: Built with 6mm hull plate and is very strong and safe. - Schooner rig; Plenty of sail choices, redundancy & the sails are easy for 1 person to handle. - Very comfortable boat under sail. Not much tilt due to the lower height masts. - It’s setup for live-aboard for a family without needing to go into marinas. Water maker, power generation, etc. - It’s set-up for the Caribbean sun. Large bimini and dodger so a nice large sunshade outside. - Nice size sleeping cabins. 3 separate cabins. It feels large inside for a 50’ monohull. - Bright/light inside the pilot house with plenty of visibility outside. - Workshop/storage in the forward cabin. Could be a sleeping berth if converted. - Large amounts of storage space inside. Entire pilot house floor is raised and storage underneath. - Tiller steering with/without autopilot. Not much to go wrong with the steering. - It will be perfect for a family that wants to get into sailing on a budget. It is a large boat for a relatively low price. - Well maintained. I am and engineer and anything that breaks gets fixed quickly.
Accidents and Mishaps
We have not had any accidents. However, on our original pre-purchase survey there was/is a slight indent noticed on the starboard side of the hull. Our surveyor said nothing major to worry about and in the years we have owned her there have been no issues because of it. We do not have any history of what might have happened there, apparently neither did the 2nd owner who we purchased it from when we asked him during our purchasing process.
